makes me think about a passage i recently read regarding this tricky business of hope; our mind’s infinite capacity to fill the reservoir up with the what-if, and could-be. something, no doubt, to hold on to, and it keeps us going. anyway, the quote is: the real ordeal isn't leaving those you love, but learning to live without those who don't love you. and i thought that was particularly insightful. because while the pain of losing something or someone dear to you is great, the pain of losing someone or something you never had (or who didn’t love you back) is much greater. ...that boundless hope will always imprison us... thank you for sharing.
You did not know nearly 10 years ago how much impact this one image might have, 10 years down the road. Thank you for posting this powerful, heart-breaking quote. I've never seen it anywhere, but now I can't think of anything else.
