we had a visit earlier this week from a lovely couple who
is purchasing two custom, round cutting boards as gifts for
very dear friends of theirs. they chose the round board
in part because it is a Chinese tradition to give a circular gift to
a newly married couple (as a wedding gift or anniversary gift).
this circle represents completion, whole, unity,
harmony, the Sun, the Moon...among many other things.
it is also traditional to sit around a circular table for meals because
there is no head or no ends of the table. everyone can see each other &
speak to each other equally. most importantly, reach for the dishes of food
in the center of the circle w. equal opportunity.
making these connections & developing relationships w. our clients & customers
is very important to us. it is always very inspiring...
